A little background...
I have to admit, when I first encountered yoga, I didn't quite "get" it.
Maybe it wasn’t the right class. Maybe it wasn't the right teacher. Things just didn’t connect, so I walked away from it for a while.
Eventually I found a teacher and class I really enjoyed. I felt my body getting stronger, and my thoughts a little more introspective. I could handily do a revolved downward dog and I was no longer bothered as much by the angry drivers during rush hour. As I went deeper into my practice, seeing how healing it could be, I knew I wanted to teach—and the pandemic shutdown provided the catalyst.
From yoga to Yoga Therapy, I continued to educate myself to support my own healing journey. I discovered Ayurveda along the way and fell in love with its rhythmic wisdom. I first studied Reiki to support my students with cancer, but practice it daily for myself. I am in the midst of learning Medical Qigong and am so pleased with how well it is helping those I am working with. Each of these modalities supports healing in a unique way, and I am grateful to be able to offer these practices to help in your own healing.
My Philosophy
This is a team effort. I am here to empower you to take part in your own healing. Once I understand what you want for yourself, we will work together to figure out the best way to get there. We can see where you are at, determine your baseline, and create a realistic care plan, guided by evidence backed research to help you move forward. Whatever modality we use, the goal is to help you heal at all levels - physical, mental, emotional and spiritual.
This will look a little different for everyone based on their needs. Each session is tailored for each individual based on past progress and how they are feeling that day. We may, however, use a combination of physical practices (like movement or breath work) and internal practices (like mindfulness and meditation) to help address different aspects of your healing needs.
I have worked with individuals with conditions ranging from osteoarthritis and musculoskeletal injuries, clients pre- and post- surgery, to those with auto-immune pain, rheumatoid arthritis, neuropathy, Parkinson’s Disease, and patients in active cancer treatment. Please review these Testimonials to see what others had to say about working with me.
